% but not &

We use the % symbol to denote percentages, not the words “percent” or “per cent.”

Example: 25%   (with no space between the number and the % symbol)

However, even though the & symbol lives two doors down on the QWERTY keyboard, we use the word “and” instead, avoiding the ampersand except in common expressions such as: E&P, R&D or BS&W.
